Do I need special sheets for my new mattress?
Your sheets and linens will depend on the mattress size you select. We carry a wide selection of sheets that are guaranteed to both fit and stay on the mattress you choose.
Is the box spring important?
This will depend on the mattress you purchase, and what you will be using it on. Very few mattresses still have a true “box spring.â€Â Some have a torsion box and others have a solid foundation. If the particular mattress you are interested in does require a box spring, our sleep consultant will inform you.
Which is the best brand of mattress to buy?
Because no two people are alike, it is impossible to have one mattress for everyone. At Fred’s Beds, we have technology that allows us to show your body type, your body needs and ultimately the comfort level you require. Our sleep consultants will help you to understand the differences between each mattress and help you make an educated decision on what is best for you. We even offer multiple mattresses that have two different firmnesses. You and your partner can each be satisfied with your own comfort.
How long will a new mattress last?
A new mattress will last as long as you find yourself sleeping comfortably. As our bodies change and our lifestyles change, so do our sleep requirements. Your body changes considerably every seven years. Most mattresses carry a 10-year or more warranty that covers manufacturer’s defects. The average consumer will sleep on the same mattress 8-12 years, depending on their sleep requirements. If you go through a major life change it is also suggested that you change your mattress. That means if you suffer a long term illness, car wreck, marriage, birth, divorce, or death it may be time to change your mattress.
Do I need a mattress pad for my new bed?
The mattress pad protects your mattress from soiling, stains and normal wear and tear. The most important reason that you need to use a mattress pad is because most manufacturers will not warranty a mattress that has stains, burns or visible damage. It is an inexpensive purchase to protect your warranty.
Do you carry waterbeds and waterbed accessories?
We sure do! Fred’s Beds carries both hard-side and soft-side waterbeds and waterbeds accessories. This includes liners, bladders, conditioner and heaters. If you are a considerable distance from our stores, please give us a call. We can usually get waterbed accessories shipped to you from the manufacturer the next day for a small fee.
How soon can I get my new mattress?
Fred’s Beds offers same day and next day delivery on all in-stock items. It really depends on the delivery schedule. Please call the closest store for details.
How soon can I get a bedroom suite?
Please call the closest store to you for details, but the majority of our furniture can be ordered and delivered in a week to ten days.
I want to purchase the same thing I bought before, but can’t find my invoice, can you look it up for me?
Probably, but depending on the length of time it has been since your purchase, we may not have that exact product, but will do our best to find one that is the most similar to what you purchased.
Do you have a sleep trial?
No, we do not have a sleep trial. Sleep trials increase the cost of the mattress, we would have to charge you more. This does not mean that we will not work with you to ensure you’re purchasing the right mattress. We do offer SleepTrust, which is a guarantee that you can purchase that will give you a 45 day comfort exchange. North Carolina has the most strict and we think, best bedding laws in the nation. We cannot bring something back in to our stores that has already been in your home. We cannot resell anything that has already been in your home. These laws come from the North Carolina Department of Environment.
What about bed bugs?
We carry bed bug proof covers. If you have bed bugs and are coming to us to replace your bedding, please let us know ahead of time. There are certain precautions we need to take. Please do not try to treat bed bugs yourself. You need a professional.
